Healing Through Art
Margaret strongly believes the creative process allows one to access and communicate feelings that often cannot be accessed by the thinking mind or expressed in words alone.
Margaret has always loved incorporating art into her counseling work and has enjoyed art since she was young. She also worked for many years as a floral designer and enjoys utilizing various processes from counted cross stitch to card making and scrapbooking with clients, family and friends. For the last several years, Margaret has facilitated creative expression groups at weekend retreats from the beach to the mountains. Some of her offerings include god boxes, joy boxes, Story Bowl™, SoulCollage™, magic wands and vision boards. Clearly, being creative is in her DNA!
Margaret strongly believes the creative process allows one to access and communicate feelings that often cannot be accessed by the thinking mind or expressed in words alone. Experience has demonstrated that images produced in making “art” assists clients in beginning to resolve issues including fear, conflict, stuck points and/or other life issues and challenges. Creative exercises such as visualization and art-making is both healing and life enhancing. And contrary to popular belief, many of the processes of making art require no specific artistic talent!
There are several artistic modalities that Margaret likes to integrate into her practice and offer to the public. One that she, her clients, and all attendees really love is SoulCollage™…so much that she decided to become a SoulCollage™ facilitator in 2009. Today, Margaret continues to teach an open SoulCollage™ group anyone can attend called the Mirror of the Soul, the second Saturday of each month from 1:30pm to 4:30pm at Elemental Healing Charlotte. As an adjunct specialty, she also holds SoulCollage™ groups exploring each of the suits of SoulCollage™ and each of the chakras which helps you gain a clearer perspective and provides intuitive guidance in your life.
