Heather Griffin, Sanctuary Counseling Services

Heather Griffin is a North Carolina Certified Counselor (NCC) and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) who received her Master’s in Counseling from the University of NC at Charlotte. As an undergraduate student in Psychology and Religious Studies, Heather became particularly interested in the functions of myths and stories that people use throughout their lives. Now, as a narrative therapist, Heather believes that problems that people face are external to them and that the keys to unlocking the chains of human suffering are found in the stories that they tell about themselves, their families, and others. Heather uses a combination of creative and expressive techniques to help clients achieve their goals and ultimately rewrite the story of their lives to include current and future chapters that will provide them with hope, fulfillment, and meaning.

Joseph Campbell, an American professor of mythology, once said, “…we have not even to risk the journey alone; for the heroes of all time have gone before us; the labyrinth is thoroughly known; we have only to follow the thread of the hero-path…where we had thought to be alone, we are with all the world.”
